Hints & Tips For Successful Barbecuing

•  Remember that with the right equipment, your barbecue can do almost anything that your kitchen can!

•  With Alfresco areas all the rage there's no excuse not to entertain on your barbecue right throughout winter

•  To get started, make sure your barbecue grills and hotplate have been properly cured before first using your barbecue to avoid adding the unpleasant flavour of lacquer to your meal!

•  Always spray the grill, warming rack, and accessories such as your fisharoo or the lid of your smoker box, with canola oil before use to greatly assist with cleaning

•  Get your barbecue grill nice and hot before sealing your meat - when a teaspoon of water sizzles into little beads on the grill, you're ready to cook

•  Always seal your meat (steaks, roast, whatever) on the hotplate before moving onto the grill. This literally seals in the juices and you'll get a tastier, juicier piece of meat

•  Be passionate about food - we have to eat three times a day, so why not do what you can to make the process of preparation as enjoyable as the actual eating

•  Use fresh, good quality ingredients and enhance their flavours rather than disguise them

•  Simple and easy does not have to mean boring and plain

•  Organisation is ninety percent of the battle - plan your meal thoroughly and pre-prepare as much as sensible so you can spend more time with your guests and enjoy the party as much as them

•  Try a theme night - like Italian, Mexican, or Thai. Create a full dinner party experience, remembering to include not only the food, but also décor, drinks and music

•  Try to always clean your barbecue on the night whilst still warm, and you'll find cleaning is a breeze rather than a struggle

•  Finally, remember that if you use fresh, quality ingredients, you should always try to ENHANCE the flavours, and not DISGUISE them!
